It was a moment of crisis for Southeast Asia.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was at risk of a lasting break with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. A geopolitical domino effect was at risk, the relations between Russia and Australia and Cambodia and Thailand in the balance.
This was a moment for poise. For lightning-fast reflexes. For stability.
For Trump.
Jumping in with both feet, Trump single-handedly brought the entirety of Southeast Asia back together. He makes it look easy, but if you look carefully you can see in Trump's face that he's struggling mightily, but that's what Trumpian Stability requires.
